Me and my husband have been having a lot of conversations about what TV shows and movies are wholesome lately.
We both agree on older shows have more potential of being wholesome. Going through what is currently being showed on TV, it is pretty depressing how little of it, would fit under the ''wholesome' category. I mean there are shows like 19 kids and Counting, Bringing up The Bates, and Boy Meets world. But other than that, there is far between good shows. So we have decided to go on a quest. A quest to find wholesome tv shows and movies, and I plan to make a list of suggestions of what we liked and found fitted the criteria. What do you like to watch? Do you have any suggestions for wholesome movies and TV shows?

I have been wanting to go running, workout and just get in better shape for a long time. I do a lot of exercise, but all of it is in the privacy of my own home. My husband likes to go running and wanting to do this with me... But I didn't want to. I don't feel comfortable in workout clothes, especially not outside.. Where people can actually see me. So last Tuesday we were watching 19 kids and counting and they were working out, and all the girls wore.. Workout skirts.. Immediately I thought that was something for me.. I don't know why this hasn't come to mind earlier.. Then I began looking where I could get such a snazzy thing.. and ooh my, to my big scare the prices were fairly high and out of our budget. But then I thought of going to our local thrift store.. And I found 2 pairs of workout Capri pants and 2 pairs of nice lose skirts.. Combining comfort, ability to move and modesty. I think it is very important to take care of my body.. It is a gift from God. We shouldn't obsess over it, and turn it into our main focus. But living a healthy life is a high priority to me. One of my new workout outfitsA few weeks ago, a local church has had a guest speaker. Matt Proctor, who would be there for 3 days. Sunday, monday and tuesday night.
Who is the president of Ozark Christian College. We saw his cermon sunday morning as he started on the book of Revelation, at it seemed interesting, both me and my husband looked forward to the next 3 nights of learning, little did we know, how amazing and eye opening experience it would be. Matt Proctor is not only a great speaker, he is funny, serious, he speaks to our hearts, and he loves the Lord. I have not dwelled a whole lot in the book of Revelation, and a few minutes into Matts lecture he mentions that not only did he avoid this book in his younger years, but this is a book that people argue about, it is cause for a lot of turmoil for many. People even complain that it should not be part of the bible. One of the things that got me captivated very fast, was his view on Jesus, he describes Jesus as a strong powerful man. I have heard so many times Jesus desribed as this timid little person, and I have never liked it. So hearing Matt describing this robust being, really touched me. Jesus is our saviour, of course he is a strong. He is the son of God, and he is coming to take us home. During these 3 evenings, I feelt like most areas of our lives were covered. For example what we watch, and what we expose our minds to daily, he quoted John MacArthur - “We should not be entertained by the sins for which Christ died.” My husband and I both agreed immidetly after hearing this, that we are going to re-think what we watch a bit more. Not that we previously had dwelled in sinful tv-shows, but we have indeed 'let things pass', thinking 'Well its not that bad', and just lowering the bar a little for what is moraly right to see and hear. This made me yet again aware that we do live in a fallen world, and we must guard ourselves constatly from things trying to corrupt us. Another thing I already knew, but somehow didn't think of enough (in my opinion) is our Witness. I was yet again reminded that we do not know when Jesus is coming back, we don't know if we have have a whole life time or only an hour left. We simply do not know. Only thing we know is, that he is coming back soon. We need to make sure we use the time wisely and evangelise as much as we can. During monday nights study he asked us all a question that left me pondering. Where do you want to be when it happens? What do you want to be doing when Jesus comes back? I think that I agreed with myself, and I would like to be worshipping.. One thing that still echoes in my mind is his mention on the desire for heaven. Is your heart still bound to this earth? Or do you yearn for heaven? It scared me and it challenged me. I am so grateful for this life, and I have so many plans. Is my heart bound here or do I have a desire for heaven. I keep asking myself this. The answer is getting more and more clear to me. I do yearn for heaven. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; - Ecclesiastes 3:11. This was beautifully quoted and followed by 'What we really want is heaven' I could go on for 10 more pages of what I learned through these seminars. But I will stick to just encourage everyone to see Matt Proctor if you have the chance. (I included a link in the end of this blog, where you can see the seminar me and my husband attended) And also encourage people to take all oportunity they get to learn more about Gods word. We bought the devotional Matt wrote on The Book of Revelation, and can't wait to make our own discoveries in this very important and fascinating book. Not only was these three nights important for me in my learning process, and gave me new tools for studying the bible, it also was a great reminder how important it is to have the fellowship of a good church. Our God loves us so much, let us never forget to show him how much we love him. Study of Revelation - part 1 Study of Revelation - part 2 Study of Revelation - part 3 Study of Revelation - part 4 |
