Me and my husband have been having a lot of conversations about what TV shows and movies are wholesome lately.
We both agree on older shows have more potential of being wholesome. Going through what is currently being showed on TV, it is pretty depressing how little of it, would fit under the ''wholesome' category. I mean there are shows like 19 kids and Counting, Bringing up The Bates, and Boy Meets world. But other than that, there is far between good shows. So we have decided to go on a quest. A quest to find wholesome tv shows and movies, and I plan to make a list of suggestions of what we liked and found fitted the criteria. What do you like to watch? Do you have any suggestions for wholesome movies and TV shows?

I have been wanting to go running, workout and just get in better shape for a long time. I do a lot of exercise, but all of it is in the privacy of my own home. My husband likes to go running and wanting to do this with me... But I didn't want to. I don't feel comfortable in workout clothes, especially not outside.. Where people can actually see me. So last Tuesday we were watching 19 kids and counting and they were working out, and all the girls wore.. Workout skirts.. Immediately I thought that was something for me.. I don't know why this hasn't come to mind earlier.. Then I began looking where I could get such a snazzy thing.. and ooh my, to my big scare the prices were fairly high and out of our budget. But then I thought of going to our local thrift store.. And I found 2 pairs of workout Capri pants and 2 pairs of nice lose skirts.. Combining comfort, ability to move and modesty. I think it is very important to take care of my body.. It is a gift from God. We shouldn't obsess over it, and turn it into our main focus. But living a healthy life is a high priority to me. One of my new workout outfitsA few weeks ago, a local church has had a guest speaker. Matt Proctor, who would be there for 3 days. Sunday, monday and tuesday night.
Who is the president of Ozark Christian College. We saw his cermon sunday morning as he started on the book of Revelation, at it seemed interesting, both me and my husband looked forward to the next 3 nights of learning, little did we know, how amazing and eye opening experience it would be. Matt Proctor is not only a great speaker, he is funny, serious, he speaks to our hearts, and he loves the Lord. I have not dwelled a whole lot in the book of Revelation, and a few minutes into Matts lecture he mentions that not only did he avoid this book in his younger years, but this is a book that people argue about, it is cause for a lot of turmoil for many. People even complain that it should not be part of the bible. One of the things that got me captivated very fast, was his view on Jesus, he describes Jesus as a strong powerful man. I have heard so many times Jesus desribed as this timid little person, and I have never liked it. So hearing Matt describing this robust being, really touched me. Jesus is our saviour, of course he is a strong. He is the son of God, and he is coming to take us home. During these 3 evenings, I feelt like most areas of our lives were covered. For example what we watch, and what we expose our minds to daily, he quoted John MacArthur - “We should not be entertained by the sins for which Christ died.” My husband and I both agreed immidetly after hearing this, that we are going to re-think what we watch a bit more. Not that we previously had dwelled in sinful tv-shows, but we have indeed 'let things pass', thinking 'Well its not that bad', and just lowering the bar a little for what is moraly right to see and hear. This made me yet again aware that we do live in a fallen world, and we must guard ourselves constatly from things trying to corrupt us. Another thing I already knew, but somehow didn't think of enough (in my opinion) is our Witness. I was yet again reminded that we do not know when Jesus is coming back, we don't know if we have have a whole life time or only an hour left. We simply do not know. Only thing we know is, that he is coming back soon. We need to make sure we use the time wisely and evangelise as much as we can. During monday nights study he asked us all a question that left me pondering. Where do you want to be when it happens? What do you want to be doing when Jesus comes back? I think that I agreed with myself, and I would like to be worshipping.. One thing that still echoes in my mind is his mention on the desire for heaven. Is your heart still bound to this earth? Or do you yearn for heaven? It scared me and it challenged me. I am so grateful for this life, and I have so many plans. Is my heart bound here or do I have a desire for heaven. I keep asking myself this. The answer is getting more and more clear to me. I do yearn for heaven. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; - Ecclesiastes 3:11. This was beautifully quoted and followed by 'What we really want is heaven' I could go on for 10 more pages of what I learned through these seminars. But I will stick to just encourage everyone to see Matt Proctor if you have the chance. (I included a link in the end of this blog, where you can see the seminar me and my husband attended) And also encourage people to take all oportunity they get to learn more about Gods word. We bought the devotional Matt wrote on The Book of Revelation, and can't wait to make our own discoveries in this very important and fascinating book. Not only was these three nights important for me in my learning process, and gave me new tools for studying the bible, it also was a great reminder how important it is to have the fellowship of a good church. Our God loves us so much, let us never forget to show him how much we love him. Study of Revelation - part 1 Study of Revelation - part 2 Study of Revelation - part 3 Study of Revelation - part 4 So I have completly re-design my site.
Changed everything about content, setup and design. My life has changed so much this last month, that I felt i needed to do a complete make-over here. I semi-finalized the list of healthy beauty products you can see it HERE I am working really hard on getting all the things I want on the website, but it is of course a process. At first I thought I shouldn't do anything before it was completely done, but I changed my mind. This will be a work in progress for a while, but I can still share what I have a long the way. I am currently working on putting together a lot of pretty and cool modest outfits, I am also working on experimenting with some healthy vegetarian recipes, hopefully I can soon post pictures and more details, and last but not least I am working on a blog to describe a 3 day bible study I participated in, that was beyond amazing. I am so filled with love for the Lord, and I am looking into more ways to serve. Also soon to come pictures of my project with having decorative bible quotes. So I read this article http://www.managingyourblessings.com/2014/06/25/8-bible-verses-strengthen-marriage-free-printables/
And I wanted to put my own touch on this great idea. So I am now in the midst of typing up my own and trying to get creative without it being to hard.. So I dug out my husbands box of multicoloured paper and have started getting creative Pictures coming soon.. Do you decorate with your favorite bible verses? Whats your idea to bring jesus into your house? I havent forgotten about my site, nor my blog.
I got married, I moved, and I had to quit school. So my current plan is withing the next month to re-do my webiste, and get back and active on my blog and my other projects. I can't wait to get started again, and share all of my ideas. Here is a cute picture while we wait. I am currently still working on my list.
I am trying out the different products so I can tell a bit about them. But planning my wedding, bad internet connection, the loss of a family pet,and travelling has slowed me down a bit. I hope to be able to try out Juice Beauty and the Body Deli over the hollidays. Else I am still using my alba botanica skin care regime, and experimenting with Mineral Fusion make up I also took up thrift shopping.. I really set myself up for disaster thinking making this list of non-toxin skin care products would be done in a week..
Everytime I find a product, it takes me a few days being completly sure I want to add them. I also want to make sure there is a nice variety of products in each category to choose from.. Currently I am looking thru the millions of brands and stumbling upon the few safe ones.. I am also looking trhu everything we own.. This week I am currently focusing on the 3 P's of chemicals Propylene / Butylene Glycol (PG) Paraben preservatives or alkyl-p-hydroxybenzoates (methyl, propyl, butyl, and ethyl) Phthatale family or di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) and di(2-ehtylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) Needless to say there are many more, as I tried to list in my previous post.. But those 3 are easy to remember for me.. and just seeing products listed as free of those is a good step on the way.. I also looking into sunscreens.. Pros and Cons.. is there high SPF out there, without the risk of carcogenics in them? I am sure there are.. And last but not least.. I am looking at toothpastes.. I really hope to be able to provide my full list soon,, Currently i am using : Shampoo/ Conditioner : Wholefoods 365 Body lotion : Wholefoods 365 Skin care is still a mix of Alba Botanica and Mineral Fusion Lip tar : Obessive Compulsive My next projects are to find a BB cream, a deodorant and a nailpolish remover I can try out.. And remember sadly Organic isnt always a security for it being non-toxin. Hi.
I have spend hours making a list.. and its not even close to done.. So I will take more time to put together a list I hope can help alot of people and hopefully inspire them to choose safer products.. What I have so far is a some different lists of chemicals to avoid.. in cosmetics and everyday life.. Alot of these chemicals may cause cancer, birth defects, and other serious health issues.. For people who are new to 3/5 free nail polishes : 3 free means they don’t use toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or formaldehyde. 5 free is when they don’t use formaldehyde resin or camphor in addition. There are numerous lists on 5 free nail polishes.. I will also be including it, in my list. Then there is the toxic 12.. chemicals found in our everyday life 1. Propylene Glycol (PG) and Butylene Glycol 2. Benzoyl Peroxide 3. DEA (Diethanolamine), MEA (Monoethanolamine), & TEA (Triethanolamine) 4. Dioxin 5, DMDM Hydantoin & Urea (Imidazolidinyl 6. FD&C Color & Pigments 7. Mineral Oils 8.. Parabens (Methyl, Butyl, Ethyl, Propyl) 9. PEG (Polyethylene glycol) 10. Phthalates 11. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) 12. Triclosa Other Chemicals found in cosmetics are : Mercury (Thimerosal) Lead acetate Petrochemicals Coal Tar Placenta 1,4 Dioxane 2- Butoxythanol Alkyl Phenol Ethoxylates (APEs) Hydroquinone Bisphenol- A (BPA) Sunscreen chemicals: Avobenzone, benzphenone, ethoxycinnamate, PABA are commonly used ingredients that are known free radical generators and are believed to damage DNA or lead to cancers. http://www.safecosmetics.org/ is a nice place to read more in depth This is my current skincare selection. Mineral fusion and Alba Botanica.. both are bought at Whole Foods for a reasonable price, and i am so far very happy with them. I also use Mineral Fusion nail polish, and will soon adventure into their make up selection. Whats your skincare selection? Hi. I have been so busy the last month.. barely been thinking of my blog..
But no more of that.. The last few weeks alot has happened.. I got engaged (Yay).. and I started going deeper into the reading the labels on my beauty products. It all started when i looked at whole 3-free / 5-free nail polishes.. I then started to look deeper into the rest of my beauty sortiment ranging from my make up, skincare products, body mists, even shampoos and conditoners.. And to be honest... I was horrified.. simply horrified.. Brands I thought was safe, contain not only unhealthy things, but chemicals that may cause cancer.. So what did I do? Well first i threw away all the brands I learned was a healty hazard.. then.. I started reading.. and reading.. I googled and I read more.. I am currently still in the process of making a list of products I trust, and will use.. Currently I am reading about products.. then cross checking them with www.thinkdirtyapp.com (Think Dirty-Shop Clean I found from a website linked regarding chemicals in cosmetic causing breast cancer) and www.goodguide.com/ - personoally, I prefer Think Dirty because its very in depth about what makes the brand healthy or unhealthy, so you can choose if its a risk you are willing to take.. We all want the perfect skin, and look beautiful - but it shouldn't be at the risk of our life. I hope within the next week to have made the list with the results from my hours of reading. |
